Journey of Yong Kang and Tian Yu: Episode 1, «Delivering the letters to God. »

This story is not funny but it was a good experience. It is written on the recount of 08/04/2011.

The day started with school. It was a normal Friday actually. First, it was PE lesson. In PE lesson, Classes 1/1, 1/4 and 1/5 had to run 2.4KM. Yong Kang did his best but did not get the first place. It was won by Michael. In his heart, he really thought it was unfair for him to compete against Michael as Michael was a year older than him. To be truthful, he was quite jealous. Jealousy lurked inside of him for hours. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit managed to overcome the jealousy. While Yong Kang was still struggling with the temptation in his heart, Tian Yu was also struggling. For what, you would ask, for breath. Tian Yu wasted all of his energy of the first round and took hours to recover. But it did not take him long for him to annoy Yong Kang.

Then, it was Chemistry lesson, followed by Recess.

Oh Ya! It’s the international friendship day. That’s why Coral Secondary School was selling balloons for charity. Each balloon cost $2. Yong Kang planned to buy three balloons and write letters to God. Then afterwards, he would attach the letters to the balloon and release it. A booth was set-up when it was recess time.

Class 1/4 was released early because of their good behavior in Chemistry lesson (TEE HEE). 1/4 got the chance to buy first. But despite having the privileges of getting the balloons first, the early birds have to wait for a long time thanks to some people cutting their queue and also the people working at the booth were very slow( not to blame them). While we are waiting, Jing Lin accidently tore her $10 dollar note. Her still wanted to buy balloons so she borrowed money from a kind hearted person who is willing to borrow money to her despite the last time when she also borrowed money from him (HEEHEE).

After a long wait, Yong Kang finally got his balloons. He gave one to his good friend, Clivon. He was still planning to attach the letters he wrote to the two balloons. After giving to Clivon, he met his good friend. (It’s not good to mention his name so let’s just call him “CR”) CR has a crush on a girl which he liked a lot. CR started telling Yong Kang about him (CR) writing a love letter to the girl he likes and giving her a teddy bear. Yong Kang has been telling him of building a foundation of friendship must come before a relationship. CR was actually very worried about angering the girl he likes (let’s call her “monkeyy”). Yong Kang suddenly thought of a good idea of giving CR a balloon so the CR can give it to monkeyy. CR can’t buy any balloon because he didn’t order any two days before. CR accepted the balloon (which means Yong Kang left one balloon) but he wanted Yong Kang to help him give the balloon to monkeyy. Yong Kang then persuaded CR of giving the balloon himself but with the company of Yong Kang, Shazni and Kishan. CR really hesitated a long time. Shazni and Kishan lost interest and went back to class. Yong Kang continued forcing CR to give. Long story short, CR managed to give monkeyy the balloon with monkeyy accepting it with all her heart.

After recess was Mother Tongue lesson. The teacher walked in with a serious look on her face (like always). By this time, Ivan’s balloon slipped out of his hand accidently (or might even be purposely). The balloon was “attacked” by the fans. The class started laughing as if it was an entertaining show but 1/4 really failed to see the dangerous side of it. The teacher commanded someone to off the fans immediately. Then she scolded us for being irresponsible. At least Ivan got his balloon back.

School ended with English lesson. Yong Kang and Shazni went to the street soccer court to release the balloon with the letter. There was only one balloon left and there was a big problem, the letter was too heavy. The balloon failed to fly. Yong Kang and Shazni went to the D&T workshop to pass to Mr. John Chua some sketch books where they met Tian Yu (the person Yong Kang always mocks, calling him “baby”). After passing the sketch books, Yong Kang wanted to buy one more helium balloon so that he can fly his balloon.

They got out of school, and they met Zheng Qin, Clivon and Jing Kai. They all walked towards “Whitesands” (a shopping mall) where they might find helium balloons. On that road, there is a place where there are a lot of algae which make that part of the pavement slippery. Despite knowing that the part of the pavement is disgusting and slippery, Shazni still attempted to walk over it when he fell and got himself all dirty.

They got to “Whitesands” but failed to find any helium balloon. Shazni and Zheng Qin had to go back to school for CCA. Yong Kang and Tian Yu headed to “Tampines 1” (another shopping mall).

They got there after an eight-minute train ride, they got to Tampines. They went searching again. After half an hour of searching, they finally found a shop that sells helium balloon. Yong Kang didn’t want to buy that balloon because it was very expensive. Instead, he would just want to give those letters to a church. They went to “KOI” (a milk tea shop) to buy some milk tea while they think about where the nearest church is. “Could it be Holy Trinity?” asked Yong Kang. “YA HOR!! But I don’t know how to go.” They waited for ten minute for their number to be called. They then started their journey by walking to Holy Trinity. They walked past a bus which is going to IKEA. Tian Yu brought up a suggestion of going there. Yong Kang started mocking him so much that he didn’t know that there was a lamp post in front of him. He knocked into it and Tian Yu started laughing at him. They broke into laughter and continued their journey.

On that road, the two boys met a lame Malay lady who was carrying two real heavy plastic bags. “Should we go help?” Yong Kang asked, drinking his milk tea. Tian Yu gave a slight nod as a reply. They went up and offered our service. The lady was very thankful and they helped her carry the bags until it was the lady’s block. The lady took back the bags and thanked them again. Then they continued their journey to Holy Trinity. On the journey, they were talking and Yong Kang lost his straw which means he had to drink his milk tea without the straw. Tian Yu was laughing at the fact that how unlucky Yong Kang was.

After a ten-minute walk, they reached Holy Trinity. Both Yong Kang and Tian Yu were stunned by the design. Everything was white. They scanned through the place. There were a lot of mothers and their children. Yong Kang then found something really amazing for him. It was the first time he saw a tank of “Holy Water”. The water that can kill vampires, in a tank. Tian Yu took pictures while Yong Kang slipped the letters into the church donation box. They quickly “ran” out. Yong Kang still has his balloon with him. He suddenly had a great idea. Sucking the helium. There was only one problem… none of the boys has scissors or even anything sharp. Yong Kang pulled the balloon’s tail while Tian Yu found a sharp stick and poked the tail until it tears. Then they used Tian Yu’s milk tea straw and suck. And when his first words came out… “Hello?” it was a voice of a chipmunk! They started laughing and Yong Kang get to try too.

Since the letters are delivered, they started their new “mission”. It’s to explore between Tampines Station and Tanah Merah Station. They headed for Simei station. There was a dead-end ahead of them. They had to take another way. They entered a place where there were a lot of trees. Yong Kang started running in order to scare Tian Yu. His plans worked. Tian Yu ran with him. When they reached the pavement, Yong Kang sat in the middle of the pavement and started laughing at Tian Yu. Yu Tian was laughing too but started packing his bag. They continued their journey when Tian Yu realized, he too, had lost his straw. They started laughing at the fact of unlucky they were.

They soon reached the Simei station. They resisted themselves from eating. They crossed the road where they will walk pass a condo. Tian Yu started talking about the condo. Beside the condo was a school. The school was Changkat Changi Secondary School. Tian Yu said that that school is the most haunted school in Singapore. They started sharing about haunted school. They walked for fifteen-minute and finally can see the “EXPO” building which means that they are near Tanah Merah station. Tian Yu started complaining about the distance.

They crossed quite a few roads. They crossed a small traffic light and started walking beside a small canal. Yong Kang started daring Tian Yu to cross the canal by a small drain that in partly submerged into the water. Tian Yu struggled and shouted all sorts of stuff. When both of them looked into the water, they saw a lot fish. “Fish!” shouted Tian Yu. They started laughing at the fact how random God is. “What if there” asked Tian Yu. They continued laughing at that stupid question Tian Yu had asked. After another nine-minute walk, they finally reached Tanah Merah station. They continued another five hundred meter to Yong Kang’s house.

Near Yong Kang’s house was “Fairprice”. Tian Yu wanted to buy drinks as both Yong Kang and his water were finished. He bought two bottles of “100-Plus” and went to Yong Kang’s block. At first, Yong Kang pressed sixth button where his house is located but then Tian Yu was amazed by the fact that there were twenty five storeys. So Yong Kang pressed the twenty fifth button which sent them up to a place where they spent the next ten-minute of their lives. On the twenty fifth storey you can see east coast which is nearby. There were ships and boats. When it was around 15:45, Tian Yu had to go to his grandma’s house.

They made their journey to Tanah Merah station by bus and this is where the story ends. Tian Yu set off his journey to Tampines while Yong Kang went back home.

The End

But it does not end without God…. Here are the lesson learnt.

1) Jealousy must not control you judgment or your body

2) Willing to sacrifices anytime

3) Listen to the right voice and look at the good thing of what God has done for you

4) Love everyone even “sinners”

5) Enjoy God’s creation for men

The whole story is about we should desire God to a point that you will not give him up. When you are “banned” from church, you will still seek him.

Praise Jesus who have saved me.

God's Covenant

Okay, I know it quite weird that I’m talking about God’s promise because God had only made a promise to me once in my life. It may be stupid and it may not make sense to you but it does to me. This is how it went…

I just met this girl on 26 December 2010. I really want to ‘befriend’ with her. I have a church camp from 28 December 2010 to 31 December 2010. Let just call ‘Kate’. I kept on thinking of her and was distracted from the Lord. She changed church earlier so I was thinking how I should get closer to her. She no longer the same church as me, we are not in the same school, so I decided that the only way to her is through ‘Facebook’.(:DHehe) In camp, I was thinking what are the possibilities of her Facebook name (I tried finding her before But her facebook name wasn’t her real name). I was thinking that she was the most perfect girl I ever seen in my life, I mean she have everything I expect from a girl.:D

After days of thinking “what was her Facebook name” in camp, I gave up. I felt really down because I have no chance to the ‘perfect’ girl in my life.

Every night in camp, we have a sermon. After the sermon, leaders in church pray for us or anoint us with the Holy Spirit. I prayed to God, asking him whether Kate was the ‘perfect’ girl. And one night, my cell leader, Bob prayed for me. I didn’t really expect anything from him but then he started with ”I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” I was thinking ”Oh, his quoting from the Bible, nothing much” but then he continued,’ I planned all things before you were even made, I give you the best. I have stored and planned all the best to you but… before the pans are set up for your herds and flocks, and before your houses are built, come and dwell in my love.”

After this, I felt confident. Not confident of getting Kate to be my girlfriend or having a girlfriend but very confident that God has the best for me and He wants me to dwell in His love <3

All because of His promise. And I know one think. He NEVER breaks promises and He NEVER will.

Talking to strangers when God tells you to…

Have you ever experience you walking on a street and all of a sudden God tells you to speak to a stranger? For some people it’s a normal thing but for me, it COULD be a challenge.

I’m okay to talk to people if I found a subject that both of us would like to talk about but I got this habit to talk about Christ in front of people. Sometimes when I talk to beggars on the street, I’m afraid that I would want to do it for fame and not for God but let me tell you, offer the right sacrifices and trust in the Lord. These are the first few experience I did in front of public but not for fame and purely for God:D

1) One Friday afternoon, our school just dismissed us earlier than usual. On that day I had a CCA selection and have to go back to school at 4pm so me and my friends went to a shopping mall called ‘white sands’ to eat lunch. After eating, it was about 2:30pm, so we loitered around the shopping mall. Beside the shop mall, was a MRT(train) station. Between the MRT station and shopping mall there was some beggars. God just told me to give some coins so I obeyed. When I gave the coins, I saw a cross at a blind beggar’s neck. I had this strong feeling that God is telling me to interact with her/them. I went to them and started talking. I started by asking them about how they accepted Christ. I was afraid that they might end the conversation quickly so I tried to ask more question. The lady told me what happened in her life and how she got blind. God really blessed her a lot although she’s blind. Her parents left her under the care of her grandmother. In chinese culture, girls are not allowed to school, especially in the stretching up to 1930s. One day, she had some eye problem and her grandmother used the wrong medicine on her, so she turned blind. Before that she was already a Christian and was already baptized. For years she complained to God. Some relatives even mocked her. Her grandmother sent her to a special school she was educated. After graduating, she work in an insurance company for 30 years. She said she NEVER regretted being blind. I got really touched by what she said and started tearing. We people, who have normal eyes, legs, throat, etc always complained to God that why God made us so ugly but this BLIND woman thank God for making her blind. I prayed for her and walked off. It felt like 5 minutes. When I looked at my watch, it’s 3:15. I been talking for 45 minutes.

2) One Monday, me and two of my friends walked passed the MRT station. Beside the MRT station is an bus interchange. When we were walking, I saw a beggar. God told me give him some coins so I did. He said thank you to me and my friends. I then said The Lord loves you in Chinese and to my surprise, he said that he is also Christian. I have been praying to God to give me a Christian beggar, now God has answer it.:D

I been struggling, thinking whether Jesus is really God. I kept praying to God to proof to me. For days he never answer.

At 3:47 am in the morning of Jan 23 year 2011, I prayed again. God gave me a verse.

Psalms 46:1-11

After that,he really proof to me that he is really God.

Thank you Jesus.

Church-organized Dinner!!! Before the dinner:D

My church organized a dinner on 29 of Jan. Each person cost 12dollars. I wanted to invite my friends but of the money was too expensive… so I decided to sponsor two people to the dinner which cost 24dollars. I wanted more of my friends to join but I can’t sponsor all of my friends because if there if five people I would cost 72 dollars including me. So i prayed to God and asked him to sponsor them. I prayed the prayer on a Wenesday. I waited for God to give me the money but God didn’t. I went to church that Saturday, And received a news. ‘all invited friend are free of charge’. My cell leader, Bob and Titus told me. That means even if I invite 100 friend, all of them are free of charge and only I need to pay 12dollars. Now, five friends instead of two is going, including me.

Praise Jesus. The Word.
